Rabindranath Tagore’s Jorasanko a major centre for Bengali arts and culture in the 19th century, lying a little beyond the crossing of Chitpur Road, now converted into a museum having a rich collection of books, original paintings, manuscript and photographs. Also housing Rabindra Bharati University, specialising in the arts, particularly music.
